A BIT ABOUT THE DESIGNER: LEAH DEMETER

Art has always been a big part of my life. I always find myself doing something creative and getting hooked on projects for days or even weeks at a time. I am an all-around insatiable creative who enjoys exploring the different forms of creativity. As a baby in diapers, I drew on the walls with permanent markers. As I matured, I have learned how to use traditional media, such as crayons, pastels, watercolor, oil paint. As a young teenager, my mother gave me a calligraphy book, which ignited my interest in typography. From there, my interest grew to design and computer graphics, and I have not looked back since.

When I am not creating art, I enjoy watching and playing softball and baseball, visiting my family and friends, visiting art galleries, catching an episode of "King of Queens", "Law and Order: SVU" (among many others), taking a trip to the bookstore, walking my dogs, going to the beach, horseback riding, and traveling. I recently traveled to the amazing Galapagos Islands and Israel. At any given opportunity, I would love to continue to explore the world.

I always have the mindset of a designer, finding inspiration in my day to day life which influences my work. I absorb the world around me, finding almost everything I see relevant to graphic design. To keep myself from annoying my non-designer friends, I sometimes have to bite my tongue when it comes to noticing bad design, especially poor typography.

I would not change my passion of being a graphic designer for any other profession. I look forward to continue working in the field of design and would love to have a full-time job at a design studio that will let me grow creatively and give me the chance to share my skills and talent.

I am very proud to show one of the many posters I designed. My designs have been displayed in every room at the gorgeous Los Angeles Theatre for FIDF's Roaring 20's Gala.
